I am getting tired of dulce de leche, oh no!

I would have never thought I would get tired of dulce de leche. I love all "brown" flavors like coffee, chocolate, brown sugar, maple syrup, and caramel. So dulce de leche, basically burnt milk and sugar, is something that I've always loved. But I've been eating a lot of it in the last week, not just high frequency but large quantity per eating occasion, which is making me tire of it!

Every ice cream / gelato store I've tried, I always get the dulce de leche flavor as one of my flavors.

A main culprit is breakfast at my hostel. It's a pretty good "free" breakfast as hostel breakfasts go, but eating my medialunas and toast with dulce de leche got old after the first couple of days. I've actually skipped my free breakfast a couple of times already.

I think the straw that broke the camel's back is this slice of cake I had last night at the Alto Palermo mall, at a coffee shop called Stefano. It's called either rogel, or mil hojas (1000 pages), and it's basically a layer of thin merengue, slathered with dulce de leche, and repeated many times. That's merengue on top too. I was really excited about it - taking my waitress to the display case to point it out, because I didn't know the name last night. But I could seriously eat only half of it; it was so rich, and the flavor becomes one-dimensional after a while. Just sweet.
