What's showing in Christchurch: not much.

The Christchurch Art Gallery does have some interesting exhibits by New Zealand and overseas artists. Currently, they have exhibits by New Zealand painter Rita Angus who is very important here (through July 5), and a couple video installations by Seattle artist Gary Hill.

But then there's the Arts Centre. Very pretty campus. The galleries here have Mastercard/Visa logos on their doors.

But worst of all was the Centre of Contemporary Art. I actually donated money when I entered (Christchurch's museums are generally free), and so regretted it. The quality is like that of a weeklong crafts workshop graduation. And there are price tags on the wall labels - incredibly crass.
