Impressions: Strasbourg, France

Impressions: Strasbourg, France

Strasbourg is fairy tale charming. It's probably one of the things that compelled me to visit - it just seemed so "European!"

You imagine Beauty and the Beast taking place in a town like this; in fact, it's said that the town from which the Disney animators drew inspiration is just south of Strasbourg.

I think there are probably a few American apartment developments or subdivisions inspired by the Alsace region!

Strasbourg is quite touristy, which can be bothersome, when the streets are crowded and all of the businesses are so very much geared towards catering to you, the tourist.

But it is so relaxing to have a well-developed tourism infrastructure. They sell a Strasbourg Pass with tickets for museums, entry to the cathedral tower...

...and even a boat tour. Very touristy, but it's fun to be a tourist sometimes!

It's really the ever-present water that makes Strasbourg even more special.

At one point of just wandering around the streets, the bridge was closed for a commercial? music video? shoot. Somehow, whatever they were doing - something happy, innocent, joyful - just captured the feeling of being Strasbourg.
