Sushi Party!

Sushi Party!

My dear friends, in thanks for Thanksgiving dinner, gave me the gift of a sushi making class, together with them. Yes, in Valencia! A bit of a strange concept, learning sushi-making in Spain, the class was pretty good. It was led by a Spanish girl who was a big fan of Japanese food (her knowledge was quite good and accurate). The only shame was that she was ill and coughed all over the food!

In thanks back to my friends, I invited them over for a sushi and gyoza making dinner to put into practice what we learned. I'd say everything came out quite well! I also found some inari sushi tofu pockets in the Chinese market, and we made those too.

For dessert I made dorayakis. Amazingly easy to make - it's basically a pancake batter with a touch of mirin.

I filled them with a bit of ready-made red bean paste.
