Trip Report: AMS-ORD-DEN-SAN part 1

Back to the US, and so back to Schiphol with a visit to the Servisair lounge. I was starving this morning, not having had breakfast, so I filled up with a couple sandwiches (chicken, tuna), a couple puff pastries (meat, cheese), "Chinese chicken soup" from a machine, and water with lemon.

On board, the service started with smoked salmon in a pretty flower shape, couscous, salad, and bread.

Continued with filet mignon, mashed potatoes, and very nicely done vegetables (still crisp). Wait a minute, this is the exact same menu I had AMS-IAD in February this year! (link here)

The only differences were that on this flight, the couscous was not as tasty, there wasn't a Ferrero Rocher on the tray, and the dessert was this delicious chocolate ice cream. I think the ultra thin chocolate chips inside really put it over the top, as simple as this single scoop may look.

I remembered having the Tuscan-style wrap last time, and was in the mood for something lighter this time. Okay, I had all of the cheeses, which weren't all that light, but the quality was excellent. Especially the cantaloupe: extremely fragrant.

Though this flight was operated by a 777 with the old business class configuration ("one of the smoothest rides you'll find," said the captain), this was my first time experiencing the new pillow covers and blankets. They were so plush! They have this sort of combed texture which make them feel extremely soft.
