Trip Report PRG-FRA-SFO Part 2: United's reconfigured 777

A day or so before my flight back to San Francisco, I checked the status and was pleasantly surprised that the aircraft was switched to the newly reconfigured 777, with video on demand even in economy.  I was happy, as my "C" seat is an aisle seat in both 2-5-2 and 3-3-3 configurations, but my seat neighbor in the "B" seat was not happy at all.  I did feel bad for him as he was well over 6 feet tall; eventually he did move to an exit row after the first meal service.

The meal choice on this flight was between chicken and a meat lasagna.  I chose the chicken - on the plastic wrapper it read Aldo's Gourmet Chicken Zingara.  It was served with a salad - not 100% lettuce as old United salads were, but rather a mixed salad in an oblong plate the same size as the main course. There was the regular roll in cellophane, and a "Limburg" brand pear cake, which I discovered after looking at old photos is exactly the same as what was served on my 2008 United flight from AMS to ORD!  I later found this exact cake on the company's website.

The flight attendants on this flight were quite friendly, and they were really diligent about coming through the aisles every half-hour or so with water.  Mid-flight, they served ice cream (with instructions that the spoon is in between the two lids), and cheese and crackers.  This was quite nice!

I supplemented my mid-flight snack with the cheese sandwich from my PRG-FRA flight, and a turkey hot dog and sandwich from the Lufthansa Tower Lounge!

Before landing was another time-tested United meal, the westbound transatlantic economy snack of ham and cheese sandwich (circular ham, circular cheese, on pretzel roll), potato chips, mustard, and a small chocolate with puffed rice.
