Trip Report: SFO-FRA-VLC part II

Once again in the FRA Schengen-zone Senator Lounge, where I have spent a lot of time over the past year! This is my favorite spot to sit: a cushy banquette with a table and view of the planes.

The food in the Senator lounge is always very German. Meat and potatoes in various guises, in shades of brown and yellow. Here is curry wurst, chicken meatballs, boiled potatoes, potato salad, kaiser roll, and pretzel.

"Vegetable hot pot," which turned out to be quite spicy! Thank goodness for some vegetables.

A big surprise and delight! The attendant who usually collects the plates came around with a metal bowl full of these chocolate covered coffee beans and gummy bears and maybe one other thing. I wasn't sure what to take, so the attendant offered me these coffee beans. I suppose that is what I would have chosen anyway. I've never encountered this service before!

In case I felt like I missed out by getting the coffee beans, I got a little ramekin with gummy candies. I guess a lot of gummies like Haribo originate from Germany.

A very delightful meal served at 9pm on the flight from FRA to VLC! It even came with a tiny menu hidden under the napkin. Thank goodness for the menu because I could not identify many of the things on the plate. From left, there is buffalo mozzarella with lemon crème fraiche and orange zest. In the middle plate there is quail breast and quail roulade with lentils. Then poached smoked salmon, sugar snap pea, avocado and parsley mousse, and two tiny crayfish with dill. Dessert was an Earl Grey Creme Brulee. Bread, and pralines.

I wasn't going to eat the pralines, but decided to have them to complete the experience. Then I was stuffed. But THEN the flight attendant came around and handed me one of these, "THE BEST PART OF YOUR JOURNEY - ICE CREAM!!!" I wonder if Lufthansa trains flight attendants to present food very enthusiastically, because when I flew Economy they were also very enthusiastic.

Chocolate-dipped ice cream sandwich.

May I say that there might have even been too much dessert on this flight? Nah, there's never too much dessert! (But it was bordering so...)
