Lounge Review: LHR T5 Aspire Lounge (Priority Pass)

Lounge Review: LHR T5 Aspire Lounge (Priority Pass)

Being a Star Alliance flyer, my trip through British Airway’s Heathrow Terminal 5 home was kind of an exotic journey. I kind of expected it to have a feeling that was a bit different than the warehouse feel I got…

Not being a Oneworld frequent flyer, I didn’t have lounge access. But I did have Priority Pass through my credit card. The single Priority Pass lounge in LHR T5 was the Aspire Lounge. There was a line to get in, and was quoted a 30 minute wait by the person holding a clipboard taking names. We were told that they would call us in when space became available. But 5-10 minutes later, everyone waiting to get in was called up at once.

The lounge is configured kind of in a narrow L-shape. There’s a bit of seating from the entrance to the corner.

And then you turn the corner into the main food area.

The views were nice.

There was a lot of crowding though, so I could see why they made people wait outside.

Food selection was decent, with hot options…

…and cold options.

I had just eaten some baked goods from Damascene Bakery across from my friends’ house, so I didn’t eat much here. I had a bowl of vegetable soup, a dryish sultana scone, and some tea and milk and sugar. I had just gotten a tooth extracted in Valencia, so I was also thankful that they had salt packets to make my saline rinse!

The Aspire Lounge wasn’t too bad: there were decent food options and the wait didn’t turn out to be too long. But crowding was really an issue - in the end I gave up my seat to a couple who just couldn’t find two seats together, and went off to the gate.
