First Impressions: Rio de Janeiro

First Impressions: Rio de Janeiro

My first impressions of Rio are about 180 degrees from Buenos Aires. We landed at about 6:30pm, and it was already dark outside. It was raining too. I arranged a pickup at the airport, and just saw a lot of dark greyness through the rain. When I got to my guesthouse, the owner gave me a lot of tips about traveling around: don't take your messenger bag around, carry just enough cash for the day (in your pocket, in your socks, in another pocket), don't wear your watch (even if it's $30 from Wal-Mart!). I guess no more walking around at any hour in BA, with all of my stuff with me!

I didn't feel like going outside because of the rain, all of the warnings, etc., so I'm just letting the ham and cheese sandwiches I ate for lunch (having squirreled them away at breakfast!), and the turkey and cheese sandwich they served on the plane tide me over until breakfast tomorrow.
