Soaked!

Soaked!

The scenery here at Iguazu Falls very much lives up to its reputation. At every turn, there's yet another view of the magnificent falls. For me so far, there are two real highlights: first is seeing so much different kinds of wildlife, and the second is the 15 minute boat trip I took under the falls.

My hostel mates in Buenos Aires, as well as one of my classmates in my Spanish class, highly highly recommended this boat ride. I was a bit skeptical, because I'm not one who usually likes this sort of excitement. Plus it was AR$75 extra. But it was SO worth it!

First they take you around on the boat so you can take some pictures of the waterfalls you'll be riding under. Then the captain guns the engine and first the spray hits you, and then you are completely drenched by the water falling directly on top of you!

In the background of this picture is the biggest falls of Iguazu, Garanta del Diablo. We didn't go underneath that one, but did go under the one on the right - one of the Tres Mosqueteros.

Then we turned back to San Martin. We had a cool captain who took us under this one three times (the boat in front of us only went twice :) ). It was so exhilarating feeling all of that water on top of you! And it actually was very refreshing after a long sweaty hike - the water was lukewarm actually. This is why the staff call it "taking a shower"!
