What's showing in art: Cape Town

What's showing in art: Cape Town

In short, not much.

I was rather underwhelmed by the art scene in Cape Town (or maybe I was just looking in the wrong places). The interesting exhibits were all in the South Africa National Gallery, like a photo exhibit of Nontsikelelo Veleko's work (she won a young artist award). But the 3-4 exhibits in total held my interest for less than an hour.

There were also some art galleries mentioned in a Cape Town art map, and I passed by them and looked in the windows, but couldn't be bothered to ring the bell to be let in.

In general, I found all of the museums I went to in Cape Town underwhelming (Bo Kaap museum, Slave Lodge, District 6 museum). I originally planned two days to see the key museums and art galleries in and around the central City Bowl, but I finished everything in half a day!
